Nikki, Yanie and I attended the berbuka puasa organised by TV3's MELODI last night at Berjaya Times Square Hotel, and it was a feast of not only food but also a Ramadhan Bazaar of artistes!
The hall was packed with tv3 hosts, celebrities and stars, and all dressed as if it was already Raya! The hall was glittering with lights everywhere and instead of buffet counters, we had stalls with thatched roofs, adding to the atmosphere of a 'kampung theme'. Very festive and joyous.
As usual, my girls did the rounds of interviews with both press and television.
Diddy sat with us and doesn't he look just so gorgeous with his new hair-cut? Taste lima saat gitewww! Diddy's debut album will be out next week in stores nationwide, and you can read all about it here. Sempat tengok mock-up kulit album yang vast kelas gitewww! Taste sepuluh saat!
Across from us at the next table sat my dear friend Nur Fatima. She waved when she saw me and we both got up to chatter and natter. Nur writes excellent lyrics, one of which is SALING TERPESONA.
Then Dayang came over to say hi.
Every year, the MELODI berbuka puasa would record a TV show for later screening, and the stage looked fabulous. Can't reveal too much now. I promised Kak Kelly no spoilers. Wait for the airing during Raya!
I went outside for a smoke and bumped into another dear old friend, Liza Hanim. She looked positively glowing!
After my smoke, I went back in and guess who I saw doing a show of their own at their table? Aishah and Adibah!
Then someone came up to me and whispered a sweet Hi. I turned around and it was sweetie Fasha, who looked resplendent in a flowing orange organza outfit. Nice! Yes, Fasha is taller than I...because I wasn't wearing heels.
Behind us were two brutal rockers kicking it up, Yazer and Azfar.
After my smoke and quick sip of ice water to break fast, and especially when the crowd had thinned, I proceeded to this stall for my usual starters.
And I was stopped by this bubbly boy! We chatted for a bit and then a group of hearing-impaired fans came by and started signing with Alif. And he responded fluently! Alif's parents are educators (his mom teaches English to hearing-impaired children using sign language) and they taught him how to sign. That's the sign for "I love you".
Faizal came along and we took a pic together. Here's a trade secret...Faizal's album is coming out real soon and I can say for certain that his songs are all going to make the girls cry! And probably some boys too. I nearly cried when I heard one of the songs...oops! Samsons and Aerosmith makan hati! Where and when did I hear them? Trade secret!
When I finally got back to my table with my ketupat and lemang and rendang, Farhan had come over for a chat with Nikki and Yanie. Lovely baju kurung, Farhan!
Having had my fill, I went outside again for a second smoke and by now the foyer outside the hall had really turned into a Ramadhan Bazaar of artistes! It was positively boisterous and everyone was jostling for room to pose for pictures with photogs from every newsprint in town.
My fellow Sarawakian Sharifah Zarina was also there and we were joined by jazz songstress Noryn Aziz. They happily posed for my camera.
Two hours later, after the hustle and bustle of the evening had subsided, people began leaving. Last to leave are always the bosses, and I managed to catch up very quickly with Encik Azhar Borhan (GM, Entertainment, Sports & Recreation) and Kak Kelly (Executive Producer), of TV3.
Oh, and I'm not sure if I'm allowed to show pictures of the VIP holding room, but apparently, whilst Dibs and I had put our feet up and settled down for a good session of
My two hot bodyguards of the night, Syed and Ahmad. Jangan makan hati ya, adik adik.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH MELODI for a very pleasant evening and the delicious food. I bedal the lemang, the nasi bohari which was SINFULLY YUMMY, the murtabak which had far too much meat in it, and drank so much juice that I had to go to the bathroom twice - fasting dehydrates you, ok!

hello there!
salute u for 'puasa'ing!
why most of the artists in the pictures look agak kureenngg...eg: dayang, fasha, syarifah zarina, farhan...
it was the due to bad lighting wasn't it???
ops!
Love that shade of russet on Yanie (she's so pretty!) and wine red on Nikki. (As you can see the fashion on these pages capture my attention more than the culinary temptations! :D)
Looking forward to Faizal Tahir's album. I never watched "One In A Million" and only discovered his soulful vocal stylings from the "Waris Jari Hantu" OST. Mek very der ketinggalan LRT OK.. *lol*
uhhh! love your baju melayu. you looked really cute! ;)
btw...faizal tahir was awesome in OIAM,but i was rooting ALL OUT for DAYANG!!!
ngeh ngeh ngeh.
BroVern dear, just 2 questions...errr do u ever need bodyguards coz I've never seen you with guards in any of your previous postings! hehe! Dan nak guard u dpd sapa? Abg rasa guard2 tu pun dah kumpul admirers *makan hati u nanti Vern hehe* Salam Ramadhan :-)
Ha'ah.. second Lyana on that. Cantik la your "modified" baju Melayu top, looks like a linen kurta/tunic with embellishments on the sleeves.
P/S: I say "modified" coz a true Baju Melayu collar will either be the 3/5-button "cekak musang" OR the Johore-style teluk belanga with one kancing. *feeling2 Azah Aziz jap* (the Tokoh Budaya not the artis who married the Frenchie) :D
hehe.. Thanks vern... it was nice doing business with u... (",) I'll see u again soon yea... with ahmad as well... hmm.. Bodyguard??? ahaks...
